Horrible Harvest
The Untold Story of the Confederate, Augustus Tennyson

What You Will Find Here
Horrible Harvest: The Untold Story of the Confederate, Augustus Tennyson is an unpublished work about a boy born on a rice farm in Charleston, South Carolina, to an abusive alcoholic. It is a coming-of-age story that follows Augustus from the Antebellum South through the Civil War, past Reconstruction, and into the year before the United States enters World War I.
Augustus does not choose where he is born, the men who shape him, or whom he comes to love. He is molded by poverty, racism, and the plantation class that rules the South like feudal lords. Can he rise above the hate that made him?
Warning: The posts that follow contain graphic depictions of violence and the use of highly profane language, including racial slurs. The author finds these slurs particularly grotesque, but impossible to avoid. Such authenticity denies unapologetic racists the cover that revisionists have provided them since the dawn of the Lost Cause.
