Curled and swirling pages of a book transforming into a scenic winding path in a mountainous landscape

I just passed page 200 on the copyedit. I’m making sure all the bad grammar is bad in the right spots and that the tone is consistent throughout the manuscript. I estimate I’ve only got 600 pages to go. Yay? It sounds like a lot, and it is, but I’ve cut about 150,000 words from the first draft. It meandered here and there… A LOT!!

To complicate matters, I’m crapping out a first draft of another story that hit me like a lightning bolt. One does not interrupt the flow. When it comes, it must be served. It’s markedly different than Horrible Harvest. I would go so far as to say that in its current state it is silly. It will turn dark. This I know. That’s just how my mind works. But after living with Augustus and the stark horribleness of his life for the past six years, I need some silly.
