I’m getting Horrible Harvest into submission shape, so to keep the creative vibe vibing, I’m tinkering with a new story. It’s markedly different than Horrible Harvest. It leans dark, but it uses more humor to tell the tale. I needed some laughs after spending six years in the hellscape of American history that is the antebellum South. The working title is Baby Boy and the Outlaw Tessa James. Eventually, I may bring it here to write it “live.” Same as I did with Horrible Harvest. I am somewhat hesitant because in this case I would be posting the first draft. In the case of Horrible Harvest, I was on draft 3.5 when I decided to go live.
This is a different kind of Southern Gothic novel. In fact, I’d call it Southern Gothic Noir.
BTW – Don’t hate me, but the image above was created by AI. My prompt was the passage describing the Outlaw Tessa James in the book. It’s not quite what I had in mind, but it’s pretty damn close.
Here is the first chapter of the new book – audio version.
