That little side project I started to unwind from a book that took me six years to write might actually be my next book. Who knew? It’s a completely different tone. If I had to define it, I’d call it frivolous to fun. Definitely different from a book written about slavery and the Antebellum South. The story itself is ripped from the headlines, as they say, but the main character is an average Joe who is mostly inept. He lacks confidence and basic adult skills, but he somehow manages to make it from one disaster to the next largely unscathed, with the exception of one incident. Let’s just say, his sense of humor gets him in trouble on more than one occasion.
I’ve elected not to post it here as I write it because this is the very messy first draft where the characters are telling me the story as I write. There’s a lot of exposition and contradictions throughout. All that has to be fixed before I go public. I’m almost 43k words in, and I don’t anticipate it being a voluminous tome like Horrible Harvest, so I may be posting the second draft soon.
Good luck! Write well! Have fun!
